Training Our Future Leaders- NNED Royal Rangers Junior Academy 2007

By Donn Blomerth, JLTA Camp Commander

& Jay M. Woodward, Pony Express Editor

On July 12-15, NNED Royal Rangers held the Junior Leadership Training Academy (JLTA) in Anson, Maine.  32 boys and 18 Leaders came for this important and exciting training event for boys.  The academy was actually three different camps in one:  Discovery Training Camp (DTC) for Discovery Rangers, Adventure Training Camp (ATC) for Adventure Rangers, and Junior Training Camp (JTC) for boys who have completed 7th grade.     The campsite was named Haynesville in honor of Pastor Tim Haynes and his son Jonathon, who own the large, open fields and woods in which the camp took place!

As a specialized training event for the boys, the preparation for JLTA was done by the host Outpost, OP 21 in Madison, Maine. By Thursday morning the Camp Staff was ready for the boys, who were about to begin a challenging and exciting three days!  After an opening ceremony in which colors were presented by NNED Security Color Guard,  the boys were split up into their various age groups, and began their own different challenging courses.

The most important element of the JLTA was the spiritual emphasis, which helped boys draw closer to the Lord.  Each night, for each of the different age groups, there was a Council Fire and devotion, which drew boys and leaders into the presence of God.  Boys opened themselves up to the Holy Spirit during these wonderful times in front of the warm fires!

NTC Slots Available!

Greetings, Leaders of Northern New England!

Just a reminder...not only is there STILL time to "book a slot" for NTC in Woodstown, NJ, there are still a few seats remaining on the "short bus" departing from Tilton, NH.  Outpost 36 is sending 4 commanders, Outpost 18 is sending a car-pooler to join us, and we can still comfortably fit a few more personnel (gear included) for the fun ride down to NJ and to a great training opportunity that will bring you back refreshed, renewed, recharged, and a better Commander for your Royal Rangers.  Remember, it's all aboutthe boys

The bus will likely depart on Wednesday 5 September, either early or late evening, and may travel through the night to avoid commuter traffic in MA, CT and NY for the cleanest, shortest trip possible.  Anyone needing a temporary stay in Tilton while waiting for the bus can contact me for arrangements.

Hopefully this "share a ride" opportunity will make NTC that much more attainable for some of you who weren't sure how you'd get there otherwise. All we ask is that you "chip in" for gas; the more that attend, the less
the split on fuel will cost everyone.

Any questions, call me at 603-455-5351 or email at nnedsecurity@hotmail.com for the ride.

Don't forget to register for NTC via the National Website, they operate via fax as well, and they DO take Credit Cards (if you don't have one, maybe your church does...)

Blessings to you and your Outposts!
